Barricaded man shot after emerging with weapon

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — A man who barricaded himself inside his home was shot by police in Greeley on night after a standoff, authorities said.
The shooting happened after police responded to a reported disturbance and possible burglary at a trailer park. Officers found a 57-year-old man who was uncooperative with them and who barricaded himself inside his trailer, according to a press release from the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Team, a group of area law enforcement agencies investigating the shooting.
The man told dispatchers he would get into a shooting with the officers if they did not leave his property, the team said.
At about 8:25 p.m., the man came out on his porch and pointed a weapon at the officers, causing one officer to shoot once but no one was hurt, the team said. Nearly an hour later and after numerous calls for him to surrender, the man appeared at the front door with a weapon and police fired, wounding the man, it said.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to North Colorado Medical Center. The hospital could not check his condition without his name, spokesperson Sara Quale said .
