GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) — Authorities say one person was killed and three first responders were injured in a structure fire west of Denver.

The Denver Post reports sheriff’s deputies and firefighters responded to the blaze in the West Pleasant View area.

Two firefighters and a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for smoke- and fire-related injuries.

Sheriff’s spokesman Mike Taplin says they were trying to get to the victim, but there was too much fire and smoke.

The home was gutted by the fire, the cause of which has not been determined. No other information has been released.
