NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A weekend shooting injured nine people rather than the eight who were initially believed to be hurt, and one person remained in critical condition, New Orleans police said.
A male teenager who came to a hospital on Sunday in a private vehicle turned out to have been wounded in the shooting, which occurred shortly after midnight that day on a service road near Interstate 10, police said in a news release.
A woman who was shot in the face remained hospitalized in critical condition, the statement said. In all, four women, three men and two male teenagers were grazed or more seriously wounded.
The shooting occurred in an area dotted with abandoned businesses and large parking lots, news outlets reported. Police said the case remained under investigation and no additional details were available.
