LA PLATA, Md. (AP) — An 18-year-old woman was shot and killed while riding on an all-terrain vehicle with two other people in a Maryland residential area , authorities said.
Jazmiah Zyri Nelson was shot in the upper body and died at a Baltimore hospital several hours after the shooting near townhomes in La Plata, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
A second female was treated for a graze wound from a bullet and released, the sheriff’s office said.
No suspects were immediately identified. The sheriff’s office said it didn’t appear to be a random shooting but didn’t elaborate.
