WATERFORD, Maine (AP) — A worker who was killed in a tree-cutting accident this week in western Maine has been identified, officials said.

Michael Truman, 50, of Harrison, was part of a team that was clearing brush in South Waterford when the accident occurred, the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department said.

A tree top that was cut hit Truman on the head, and he died at the scene, officials said. He worked for Searles Excavation of Harrison.

Oxford County sheriff deputies are investigating along with Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
