ST. LOUIS (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a woman pulled from a burning senior living apartment in the Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis.
Firefighters were called to the Park Place Apartments on Forest Park Avenue just before 4 p.m., officials said. St. Louis Fire Department Capt. Leon Whitener told reporters the fire was quickly extinguished and contained to a single apartment, where the woman was found.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Officials were still investigating her cause of death and how the fire started, but said her death appeared to be from a combination of a medical condition and smoke inhalation. Her name and age were not immediately released.
No other injuries were reported.
