six people were shot at the Oakwood Terrace Apartments in Pensacola.

Authorities are searching for multiple shooters. No suspects are in custody.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. at the complex on Truman Ave. in Pensacola.

Deputies say that a dark car pulled into the apartments and several people began shooting. The group was targeting one apartment.

According to Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons, deputies are searching for multiple shooters.

“A group of people exited that vehicle and just started opening fire. We estimated at least a dozen rounds have been fired,” said Sheriff Simmons. “They were shooting indiscriminately into a group of people.”

Simmons says one victim suffered minor injuries, while five others were taken to Baptist Hospital and Sacred Heart Hospital. There’s no word on the extent of the injuries of the five hospitalized.

A large police presence formed Thursday night at both hospitals.

Deputies will be reviewing security camera footage at the apartment complex to help identify suspects.

Pensacola Police released a statement saying Interim Police Chief Kevin Christman is increasing patrols “due to possible retaliatory incidents over the shootings.” The statement reads

Due to possible retaliatory incidents over the shootings yesterday in Escambia County, Chief Kevin Christman has increased patrols with additional manpower and has cancelled leave for all officers for the near future.
