LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Southern California authorities investigating the weekend killings of two men at a residence say the shooter told them he opened fire when six people forced their way in and attempted to rob him.
Long Beach police said the resident called to report the shooting around 5 p.m.
Officers found one of the men inside the home and the other on a front walkway and firefighters pronounced them dead, a police statement said. The other suspects had fled, either on foot or in a vehicle.
“Detectives served a search warrant on the residence and seized large quantities of marijuana, firearms, and cash,” the statement said. “Detectives will continue to work to determine responsibility for any other crimes that might be related to this incident and will present any findings to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.”Identities of the residents of the home were not being released while investigators determined whether they were victims of a crime, it said
