A 3-year-old girl was killed in what is believed to be an accidental shooting at an apartment in western Pennsylvania, police said.
Allegheny County Police said officers in Monroeville were called to the Cambridge Square Apartments shortly after 9 pm. And I found the victim with one bullet. Allegheny County’s Medical Examiner Office said she died from a head wound and ruled that the death was murder.
Police said that investigators found “strong evidence” that another child “shot the victim by mistake while handling an unsecured firearm inside the house.” Police said the weapon appeared to be the legal possession of an adult cooperating with the investigation.
Police said investigators’ results will be presented to the provincial prosecutor’s office “to determine the offense.” Police said they notified the Allegheny County Children, Youth and Families Agency of the death.
