School police officer shoots, no one hit, near Vegas campus


LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities in Las Vegas say a school district police officer fired his gun Thursday during a confrontation with a person near an elementary school, but no one was injured and a person described as a suspect was being sought.

The Clark County School District said the shooting happened about 9 a.m. near Harris Elementary School southeast of downtown.

Details of the shooting and the identity of the person being sought were not immediately made public.

Las Vegas police and school district officers converged in the area, where officials said the incident was being investigated by school district police.
