One dead, one transported after an RV crashed, and a Miami-Dade Turnpike caught on fire


One person died and had to be taken to hospital after a car caught fire after it crashed in the Florida Turnpike in South Miami Dade.

Florida highway forces and rescue crews responded from the Miami Dade fire to the scene along the South Walkways near Southwest 123rd Street, at about 4:30 p.m.

Rescue officials confirmed that one person had been taken to an unknown area hospital.

Aerial footage showed that part of the separation wall along the highway had fallen.

The lanes heading south from Turnpike are closed as crews put out the fire.

Motorists are required to search for an alternative.
