Three people were killed after an exchange of fire on a major Detroit highway.
It happened on I-96 near Southfield Freeway during the night.
The highway was closed but has since reopened near Schaefer and the Grand River where the shooting took place.
Michigan State Police tell us three people have been killed – two from a shootout and a third person who died after being hit by a car while trying to escape from the scene.
A man and a woman in one car were shot dead, while another suspect was killed in another car while trying to escape from the scene.
Metro Detroit has seen a spike in highway shootings since last summer, with dozens across the area.
Investigators say they are simply separate, unrelated incidents.
