2 killed, 4 wounded in Walmart California shootings


Two people were killed and four were in fair condition in hospital after a man broke into the distribution center and started shooting at people.
Spokeswoman Allison Hendrickson said the deceased and the four injured were treated at St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff. She refused to give more details.
A statement from the Red Bluff Police Department stated that officers were called in to shoot at Walmart Distribution Center around 3:30 pm.
“After arriving, an adult man shot one or more of the officers several times,” the statement said.
“A Red Bluff Police Officer and another sergeant used their rifles and shot the suspect, and finally stopped the threat.”
The police statement stated that none of the officers were injured and that the condition of the suspect was “unknown” at this time.
The photo taken at the scene shows a car that appears to have entered the building. The Sacramento B newspaper reported that the suspect was described as having been in a car that had broken into the building
The suspect was shot in the chest around 3:45 pm, according to the newspaper.
Scott Thmakhanti, an employee at the facility’s receiving center, said he heard gunfire from a semi-automatic weapon.
Tamakhanti and others said they started running for their lives, and he saw people lying on the ground as he went.
Thamakhneti told the newspaper that he did not know his identity.
Walmart spokesman Scott Pope said the company was “aware of the situation” and was working with law enforcement.
“We don’t have any additional information to share at this time,” Bob said.
Red Bluff is a city of about 14,000 people and is located 131 miles (210 kilometers) north of Sacramento, California.
