A snowmobile was killed after being swept away by a massive avalanche in the Sawtooth Mountains in central Idaho.

The rider caused an avalanche while climbing the cliff, according to the Sawtooth Avalanche Center. It was carried at an altitude of 600 feet and its associates found it on the roof. CBS-2 reported that the passenger posted an airbag.

“The avalanche hit a well-defined groove that served as a terrain trap, and debris accumulated to a depth of about 20-30 feet,” the center said.
