Authorities said a teenage girl was killed and another injured in a shooting in eastern Pennsylvania as a teenage boy faces charges.
Reading Police said the shooting took place around 10:45 p.m. After two girls get into a fight in the Oakbrook Homes neighborhood of the city.
Police said a boy opened fire, killing a 16-year-old girl and wounding a 17-year-old girl in the leg.
President Richard Tournelli said a 14-year-old boy had been arrested and would be charged as an adult with the murder and related charges. He said that the suspect was under surveillance for previous violent crimes.
The Reading Eagle newspaper reported that Birx County Attorney General John T. Adams said the suspect would turn 15 next week.
Adams described the crime as “horrific” and said that the authorities would try to find out how the suspect obtained a firearm, and who said the young man “has no interest.”
