Two people were killed in separate avalanches in Colorado. This is the latest in a deadly season for backcountry adventurers.
According to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, the snowmobile was caught and killed in an avalanche west of Rollins Pass near Fraser. The avalanche occurred on the eastern slope above the tree limit of Mount Epworth. When the snow stopped, the snowmobile was buried under the sleigh of Lake Pumphouse. It is unknown when the avalanche was triggered.
According to CAIC, a backcountry snowboarder traveling alone was buried and killed in an avalanche near Mount Trelies, north of Loveland Pass.
