Five people survived the injury when the airline’s airliner crashed on take-off from Montgomery Gibbs Executive Airport in Kearny Mesa, fire officials said.
At 11:47 a.m., the plane ran into dirt at the end of the runway and lost its wheels, said Battalion Chief Matt Nielsen of the San Diego Rescue Department.
Nielsen said all five passengers had disembarked, with no injuries reported. Fire units arrived at the airport at 3799 John J. Montgomery Drive at 11:54 a.m.
37 firefighters were assigned to the crash, including an airport crash platform, two hazardous materials teams, two fire brigades, a paramedic and two battalion leaders, according to the fire accident record.
