A company plane crashed at the Montgomery Gibbs Executive Airport in Kearny Mesa, but no passengers were injured.
Matt Nielsen, head of the San Diego Rescue Battalion, said the plane was taking off at 11:45 a.m. when the landing gear collapsed, and the plane skidded to the ground at the end of the runway. He said that none of the five people on board was injured.
The plane landed on its stomach and was damaged in the accident.
There was a full fuel tank on board, and it started to leak after the accident. Nielsen said a fire department team and crew from the county environmental services unit have been called in to clean up the site.
