Man with knife shot after SC road rage incident

LORIS, S.C. (AP) — A driver shot and killed another driver who, after a road rage incident, followed him into a South Carolina gas station and came out of his pickup truck with a knife, authorities said.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of the station in Loris, police said in a statement.

The first truck pulled beside a gas pump at the station when the second truck parked right behind it and the driver got out with a knife, police said.

The man with the knife opened the door of the first truck, whose driver fired one shot, hitting the man with the knife in the chest, authorities said.

Police said the shooting appears to be in self-defense, but they are still investigating.

The man’s name has not been released, but Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said he was 32 years old.
