A man and woman were found dead Friday morning in a house off Beaver Street and another man was taken to hospital after being shot at home, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Watershed Drive North, in the Whitehouse area west of Interstate 295, has been closed due to police activity for several hours.
Police said the three victims knew each other but did not confirm their relationship. Investigators said a pistol was found and that they are investigating whether it was a murder and suicide, but this has not been confirmed.
Lieutenant J.D. Stronko in the murder by Save the Children: “We believe that everyone in the house is accountable.”
An urban assault vehicle and other SWAT resources arrived at the scene, but were not needed, according to Strunko.
Neighbors said they saw a man and woman move into the house less than a month ago. People in the area said that they did not hear any noise or gunfire, but when they saw the police surrounding the house, they knew something was wrong.
“We were preparing to leave when three police cars approached the corner and we stopped in our tracks,” said William Baker, our neighbor.
“Just seeing everything going on, it’s kind of crazy,” said neighbor Terrell Wilson. “It’s usually quiet. Everyone stays for themselves.”
