Police said a homeowner in Houston shot dead three men who broke into his home.
Shortly before one o’clock in the morning, at least four suspects stormed the house and opened fire. According to a preliminary police investigation, the owner of the house grabbed his rifle and defended himself by shooting the suspects, killing three of them.
The responding officers found the body of one of the suspects in the front yard. Another suspect who tried to escape collapsed and died. The authorities said that the body of a third suspect was found in a car that ran away from the scene and crashed into a pole two blocks from the buildings.
A fourth suspect was shot and taken to hospital for treatment. The homeowner was not injured.
It is not clear why the suspects targeted the home. Police have not released any additional information.
