The deputy of the US Marine Corps was killed in Baltimore

Baltimore (AFP) – A deputy marshal was shot and wounded during an exchange of fire as law enforcement officers filed an arrest warrant in Baltimore, authorities said.

Baltimore Police spokeswoman Lindsay Eldridge said in an email that the suspect was shot dead after the shooting, which took place around 6:15 a.m.

The Marshall Chamber wrote on Twitter that the attorney was taken to Baltimore Hospital with serious injuries and was recovering from surgery.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the deputy and his family during this tragic time,” the agency said.

The Marshall Service said the shooting took place while members of the Regional Fugitive Squad in the US Capital Territory were serving an arrest warrant for a suspect wanted for armed robbery and attempted murder.

While the arrest warrant was issued, the deputies came under fire from the fugitive. The deputies returned fire. “During the exchange, the fugitive and the US Deputy Marshal were hit,” said Task Force Leader Don Snyder.

No further details were immediately available.

“We are gathering more details and we will have more updates later,” the agency wrote on Twitter.
