
Two people were killed and two seriously injured in the DUI collision early this morning.
At around 2:17 am, the Bakersfield Police Department said, officers responded to the Union Street and Brundage Lane intersection after receiving reports of a major collision with three vehicles.
Two adults suffered serious injuries from the collision and were declared dead at the scene, according to BPD. Two other adults were seriously injured and taken to local hospitals for treatment. Management said they are currently listed in critical condition.
BPD said the cause of the collision was determined to be a DUI driver. Jes Moran Mendoza, 35, has been arrested on suspicion of committing premeditated murder by car and driving under the influence of alcohol, causing serious bodily injury. The investigation is underway.
