A man has been arrested and charged with criminal homicide in connection with a deadly shooting of a man outside a strip club just south of downtown Nashville late night.
Officers responded to Crazy Horse Nashville on McCann Street just before 11:30 p.m. where the victim, identified as 43-year-old Dean Kwatelai-Quartey, was located with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a Nashville hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
Detectives determined Kwatelai-Quartey was initially shot by 38-year-old Rojelio Rivera at the intersection of 3rd Avenue S. and McCann Street. He then reportedly ran into the parking lot of Crazy Horse, where Rivera shot him through a fence several more times before running off eastbound on McCann Street.
A detective later found Rivera behind a building at the intersection of McCann Street and 2nd Avenue S. Rivera was carrying a .45 caliber pistol.
Police say Rivera has felony convictions from other jurisdictions and was also charged Friday morning with unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon.
