3 killed, 3 others injured in a shooting at a bowling alley in Illinois


Officials said a gunman opened fire on a bowling alley in Illinois, killing three people and wounding three others.

The shooting, which the authorities believe may have been an indiscriminate attack, occurred shortly before 7 pm. At Don Carter Lanes in Rockford, Ill. About 90 minutes west of Chicago.

Dan O’Shea, Chief of Rockford Police, said a “significant person” was in custody.

Few details were available about the victims.

Mayor Tom McNamara appealed to the public to “give the police the space they need to investigate this event,” adding, “Keep everything in your prayers.”

“I feel anger and sadness over the violence tonight in Don Carter Linz. My thoughts are with the families of those who have lost loved ones,” the mayor said in a statement.

“I also think of those injured and my hopes for a speedy and full recovery with them,” he said.

He added, “I appreciate all of our first responders who arrived quickly and heroically to secure the scene.”
