Two people were killed in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago.
At 5:03 pm, three people were inside a red Chevrolet Impala driving west on 79th Street when a person in a passing van shot them, according to Chicago Police. The Impala then struck a lamppost on 1800 Street of East 79th Street.
Police said a woman was shot in the body and died at Crest Medical Center in Oak Lawn. A 20-year-old man died with a bullet in the face at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Police said the third passenger on the Impala, a man, was injured in the accident. He was taken to Christ where his condition was stabilized. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not confirmed the deaths. Southern District investigators were conducting a murder investigation.
