Texas officials have released the names of four Louisiana people who authorities said were killed when their single-engine plane crashed into a Texas pasture while attempting an emergency landing.
The accident occurred near Hilltop Lakes Airport, 120 miles (193 kilometers) northwest of Houston. The Texas Department of Public Safety, which had already said all four people on board had died, identified the victims as: 59-year-old Philip Ackel and 60-year-old Pauline Ackel, both from NatchiTouch, Kenneth Hicks and Missy Lyn Hicks. , 59 years old, from Lafayette.
Lyon County Sheriff Kevin Ellis said the plane was attempting an emergency landing and was in radio contact with the Federal Aviation Administration at the time of the crash.
The plane was taking off from Horseshoe Bay Resort, west of Austin, and heading to Nachettoch, Louisiana, according to flight records. The plane was registered to a company in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The National Transportation Safety Authority said it was investigating the accident.
