A man and woman were found dead Friday morning in the home off Beaver Street and another man was hospitalized after being shot in the house, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Watershed Drive North, in the Whitehouse area west of Interstate 295, was closed due to police activity for several hours.
Police said all three victims knew each other but haven’t confirmed their relationship. Detectives said a gun was found and they were investigating if this was a murder-suicide, but that was not confirmed.
“We believe everyone in the house is accounted for,” JSO homicide Lt. J.D. Stronko said.
An urban assault vehicle and other SWAT resources arrived at the scene but were not needed, according to Stronko.
Neighbors said they had seen a man and woman move into the house less than a month ago. People in the area said they did not hear any loud noises or gunfire but when they saw police surround the home, they knew something was wrong.
“We were getting ready to leave when three of the police cars came around the corner and we just stopped in our tracks,” neighbor William Baker said.
“Just seeing everything going on, it’s kind of crazy,” neighbor Tyrell Wilson said. “It’s usually quiet. Everyone stays to themselves.”
