One killed after the officers opened fire on a car speeding towards them

Delaware authorities are investigating a police shooting that killed one person.

New Castle County Police said officers were investigating a suspicious car in Rosemont Avenue and East 24th Street in Wilmington shortly after 1 a.m.

Police said that as the officers approached, the car took off and fled down a dead end. Police said the car then turned off and drove at high speed directly towards the officers.

They fired their weapons, wounding the driver, who was declared dead at the scene.
