At least five people were killed and 25 others injured in gunfire across Chicago, when six were killed and 24 others were injured.
At least three people were killed and four others wounded in gunfire that extended from Chicago’s south side to Evanston.
Police said Jason Nightingale was killed in a shootout with police after he took a hostage in Evanston IHOP.

At around 1:50 PM, a 30-year-old University of Chicago student was shot dead in a parking garage in Building 5300 in the Southeast End.
At 2 p.m., a security guard was killed and a 77-year-old woman was seriously injured while she was getting her mail in an apartment block in Building 4900 in the Southeast End.
At 3:45 p.m., an 81-year-old woman was injured and killed a 20-year-old man inside a store in Building 9300 on South Halstead Street in Brainerd.
At 5 p.m., a 15-year-old girl was seriously injured in a car traveling at 10300 of South Halstead Street.
At 4:45 PM, Nightingale was encountered by police in Evanston. He took a woman hostage and shot her in the neck, seriously injuring her. Nightingale was subsequently killed in a shootout with police.
Police said a man and a woman were shot dead in East Garfield Park. They were traveling in a car around 8:30 pm. In the 3000 district of West Jackson Boulevard when someone in a dark blue BMW fired shots, police said. Police said the 21-year-old was pronounced dead at Struger Hospital. The woman was shot in the head and died in Mount Sinai Hospital.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office did not release their names.
In other shootings at the weekend, three people were injured early Sunday morning in Albany Park on the northwest side. Police said a woman and two men were sitting in a parked car around 1:10 a.m. at Complex 4000 on West Sunnyside Street when a gunman fired from an alley. The 32-year-old woman was shot in the head and back and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition. Two other men were shot, one of them critically.
Minutes earlier, two people were arrested after a man was shot while traveling on a party bus around 1am in the near West Side. Police said the 27-year-old was shot in the groin at 2,700 block on West Van Buren Street. His condition has stabilized.
Around 10 PM, a 20-year-old man was shot while attempting a robbery in Park Manor on the South Side. Police said he was walking through Building 7000 from South King Drive when a man shot him in the hand after attempting to burglary. Listed in reasonable condition.
At around 8:40 PM, a 14-year-old boy was shot in the Lundell neighborhood. Police said he was standing in a side lane in 1,200 blocks of South Kominsky Street when someone fired from a black sedan. The teenager was injured in the back and taken to Struger Hospital, where his condition has stabilized.
At least 15 other people were shot in Chicago between 5 PM. And 5 am.
