A man has been accused of shooting his father and the family’s dog in a dispute over pistols allegedly stolen from the home, according to Louisiana authorities.
Jonathan Landry, 22, was arrested by Ascension parish mayors on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder and animal cruelty after reports of a person being shot at his home in Gonzales, 60 miles northwest of New Orleans. .
Representatives arrived shortly after 5 pm. She found a man shot, according to the sheriff department. He was hospitalized and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
In a similar incident, an Alabama father shot his son after learning that he had killed two of their dogs, McClatchy News reported. The son responded by shooting and hitting his father at close range. Both men succumbed to their wounds.
