The US Coast Guard has announced the suspension of searches off the coast of Florida for a missing boat with about 20 people on board.
The Coast Guard said in a statement that “ships and aircraft of the US Air Force, Coast Guard, Bahamas Army and a group of volunteers searched 17,000 square miles for 84 hours for the boat.”
“Our prayers are to the families of the missing … I encourage anyone with information about the people on board to contact us as soon as possible,” said Stephen Voordian, head of the Seventh District Coast Guard Response.
The US Coast Guard indicated that it had received a report last Tuesday that the Mako Cuddy Cabin boat, colored in blue and white, left Bimini in the Bahamas and did not arrive as expected in Lake Worth, Florida.
