Authorities said five people were found dead in a house in Arkansas.
Representatives responded to a plea about unrest in Atkins after 5 pm. Investigators say they believe the five people may have all connected each other.
The bodies of two women and three juvenile females have been identified.
Shane Jones, the Pope County Sheriff, said the names were not released until relatives were notified.
Jones said he did not believe there was a threat to the public, and indicated that the deaths may be the result of an internal situation, but stressed that it was still too early to investigate and expected the evidence to take several days to process.
At least some of the victims, between the ages of 8 and 50, are believed to have died from gunshot wounds.
The bodies were taken to the Crime Lab in Arkansas.
The Pope County Sheriff’s Office and State Police are investigating the deaths as a possible homicide. No further information has been released.
