The California Highway Patrol said nine people died after a head-on violent accident in Fresno County.
Authorities say seven of the nine dead were children.
The collision occurred at around 8 p.m. on Highway 33 – south of Sutter Street.
Authorities say a Dodge driver was heading south on Interstate 33 and a Ford driver was heading north. Ford was approaching Dodge and when the collision was about to occur, the Dodge leaned over the shoulder.
Dodge patched too much and hit the front of a Ford, setting the Ford completely on fire. Everyone was inside a Ford when the car caught fire.
Investigators say there were eight people inside the Ford with only five possible seats.
The names of those involved were not disclosed, but the Dodge driver was a 28-year-old from Avinal
