Bakersfield Police said a body was found inside a car that was discovered in the oil fields near the Alfred Harrell Highway.

The incident was reported to CHP shortly before 3:30 PM. According to the agency’s Traffic Accident Information page.

Bakersfield police told Eitan Wallace that the car appeared to have fallen off the Alfred Harrell Highway and landed in the oil fields below.

Sgt. Chance Corner said the administration and the CHP had received reports of a roadside vehicle passing in the same area.

The authorities were unable to locate the vehicle, which reported the deviation from the side of the road that day. Corner said the car found on Friday matches the description of the reported vehicle.

The Kern County Coroner office will identify the driver inside the vehicle.
