Officers shot a man who shot killing a 15-year-old boy

Police in Kensington shot and killed a suspect who they say fired a pistol into a crowd in the early morning, killing a 15-year-old and wounding another teenager.

Officers were called to Building 3300 on Emerald Street around 12:30 a.m. to report street fighting.

While the officers were trying to break the fight, police say more people were emerging from the house and forming a large crowd on the sidewalk and the street. Members of the crowd became violent, according to police, causing a 43-year-old man to pull a pistol from his belt and shoot into the crowd.

Police say a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were shot. Two Philadelphia police officers opened fire on the suspect and hit him several times in the torso.

The shooting and the 15-year-old was announced at Temple University Hospital. Police said the 17-year-old victim was in stable condition.
