A Walmart spokesperson confirmed to Action News that the pharmacy inside the Kennewick store has been closed until further notice for cleaning.
I heard business news of the closure from viewers.
KEPR contacted Walmart who received the notice today. The spokesman did not say why cleaning was necessary. The pharmacy is expected to open its doors on Tuesday.
Action News asked if the pharmacy is closed due to the possibility of a pharmacy being infected with the Coronavirus.
The company sent the following response, “Any update of COVID-19 cases can only come from local health officials. In accordance with the requirements of HIPPA privacy laws, we do not share personal health information about any partner in order to protect their privacy.”
Walmart is enacting many new features and guidelines to keep colleagues and shoppers safe.
Some of these procedures were explained in the full statement we received from the company office.
The statement read:
Thank you for contacting us. Any update regarding COVID-19 cases can only come from local health officials. As per the requirements of HIPPA’s privacy laws, we do not share personal health information about any partner in order to protect their privacy.
We are focused on serving our customers during this unprecedented time. The store is operating as normal. As we announced before, we have enacted cleaning and sterilization protocols under the direction of the CDC and Walmart’s Chief Medical Officer, and will continue to take any and all measures necessary to ensure the well-being of our partners and customers.
These steps include providing colleagues with updated procedures through videos and photos, as well as cleaning schedules to help provide clear instructions. We have a voice activated app called Ask Sam that colleagues can use to request cleaning guides for any area in the store, and our stores have adjusted their opening hours from 7 AM to 8:30 PM. To help partners restock the shelves while continuing to clean and sanitize the building.
Finally, we are starting to install glass screens (sneeze guards) in pharmacy aisles (both Walmart and Sam’s Club) and will be installing these guards on Walmart’s regular records for the next three weeks. This is intended to help bring peace of mind as we do everything we can to keep our people and our stores safe.
Also, we install floor stickers at entrances and exit corridors, making it easy for customers to judge the appropriate social distance between each other
