Officials have identified the woman who was killed in a weekend crash. 30-year-old Ashley Lyn Minnard is number 15 among the victims of auto accidents in San Marcos in 2020.
The accident occurred, on a northbound I-35, near the 204-mile mark. The San Marcos Police Department, San Marcos Fire Department, and Hays County EMS responded to the crash at around 3:30 a.m.
The first responders arrived and found a white 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer badly damaged after the driver hit a large signal pillar on the highway.
Officials identified the driver as Minar and believed she hung the vehicle’s internal retaining wall before losing control and cutting three interstate traffic lanes. The car passed a guard rail and hit the driver’s side pillar.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the accident. Minar sustained numerous life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say he believed high speeds and potential driver handicap caused the accident.
