Authorities released more information about a murder and suicide that occurred in Monroe, Los Angeles
Six people died in the accident after a mother fired a pistol at her neighbor and then killed four of her children before she aimed the gun at herself.
According to Monroe Police, it happened in the evening at the Parkview Apartments.
Police say the shooter, named Brittany Tucker, met the first victim, identified as her 20-year-old neighbor Antsha Logwood, and asked her, “What are you laughing at?” Before she was shot and killed.
Police say Tucker then returned to her apartment and shot and killed four of her children.
All children were 12 years or younger. One of them was an infant. The children were identified as Tremaine Tucker, 12; Trichel Tucker, 8; Tucker Treasure, 5; And Gloria Tucker, 5 months old.
Police say the families of the victims have been notified.
Police believe Tucker was dealing with mental health issues. They say Tucker has been seen wandering around the compound in recent days waving a gun. Police say Tucker legally purchased the gun just days before the accident.
Interim Police Chief Reggie Brown says that if someone had called Monroe PD, they believed the tragedy could have been prevented.
Officials say all of the officers who responded to the call were devastated. They say a priest was brought in to speak to the officers about the accident.
