A Florida man was sentenced to 50 years in prison for stabbing his mother to death after he got angry when she threatened to evict him.
Nathaniel Schimmel, 25, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Wednesday after facing a first-degree murder charge and possible life imprisonment.
On August 23, 2017, Schimmel called 911 and initially said she had been attacked by a thief, but she later confessed to the crime and described the events in minute detail. He told investigators that Michelle Schimmel encountered him at their home in Palm Coast, Florida, and asked why he wasn’t looking for a job.
Nathaniel Schimmel told investigators from the Flagler County Police Office that he stabbed her in the throat several times in the chest, and finally put the knife in the back. Then 22, Shemel said he saw his mother bleed and die.
Circuit Judge Terence Perkins heard the case and decided the ruling.
