Two people were injured and another man died after a shooting in a South Miami Dade neighborhood.
The shooting occurred along the southwestern balcony 247 near Southwest Court 113, shortly after 2 a.m.
A man took himself to Homestead hospital with a gunshot wound. Then he was transferred to Jackson South where he succumbed to his wounds.
Police said a woman had been airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Rider Trauma Center and was expected to be well.
A third victim, a Miami Dade Corrections Officer, was shot. He was treated at the scene.
Police said the woman was driving away at the time of the shooting, when she collided with a parked car, causing her car to overturn.
Miami-Dade Police said: “At this point, there is no overt threat they know, based on the information they have.” Alvaro Zabaleta. “Then again, at any time when there is shooting, it endangers the entire community. A stray bullet could have made this situation worse for the community.”
The police are still looking for the shooter.
