Police say six people, including a toddler from Phoenix, were killed after several cars piled up on Highway 10 in New Mexico near the Arizona state line.
Police say winds and a dust storm suddenly blew on westbound I-10 near Lordsburg, New Mexico, around 5 p.m.
The dead included a 9-month-old girl from Phoenix, two people from El Paso, Texas, and a woman Escondido, California.
Five of the six dead were killed at the scene of the accident, in which 18 commercial trucks and seven passenger cars crashed.
The authorities have reopened the highway after a long investigation
