Authorities said two men were killed when a helicopter crashed in a field in western Texas.

Mitchell County Sheriff Patrick Toombs said Friday night that the helicopter crashed eight miles (13 kilometers) southwest of Colorado City, about 250 miles west of Dallas.

Toms said the pilot, Zane Whiteside, 31, and passenger Zach Pfeiffer, 32, was killed. Both are from Colorado.

He said he believed they were heading to a farm to help them transport the livestock.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the helicopter was a Robinson R-44. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
