National Aviation Museum
Pensacola is also home to the largest Naval Aviation Museum in the entire world. This free admission museum has hundreds of model planes that date back to World War 2 and include models from the Marine Corps and Coast Guard. One of the most exciting parts about visiting the museum, is that it is located right next to where the famous Blue Angels Show practices and is free for anybody to come out and watch.
Professional Sports Teams
Pensacola can also be a great place to visit for people or families that love to go out and watch a professional sporting event while they are here. The Pensacola Blue Wahoos are the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds organization and play their home games at the beautiful Community Maritime Park Stadium. With over 5,000 seats available at the stadium, they hold great family events such as McDonald’s Family Sundays. Pensacola is also home to the Pensacola Ice Flyers, who are a member of the Southern Professional Hockey League. The Ice Flyers have won three of the past four Southern Professional Hockey League championships including last season with one second left. They play their games at the Pensacola Bay Center which is located downtown. The Ice Flyers have a great selection of theme nights including veterans appreciation and scouts night.
Hiking and Bike Trails
One of the best parts about the location of Pensacola is how many hiking and bike trails that are located all across the city. The main attraction for hiking is Blackwater River State Forest, which is the largest state forest in Florida at 190,000 acres. In Blackwater River State Forest guests can choose from tons of different activities that include kayaking, canoeing, tubing, and hiking trails of different skill levels. Another exciting location in Pensacola that offers an exciting trail is called Big Lagoon State Park. This trial is located very close to the beach and is very family friendly because of its openness and activities that are available for kids of all ages.
