Two people were killed and three people were injured, including a 4-year-old child, in a shooting at Lacombe, according to the Saint Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly after 10 a.m., STPSO MPs were called to a house on the 28,000 block of Palmer Drive in reference to a gunfire.
According to al-Sharif, the owner of the house told MPs that he shot four men after the men entered his house armed with rifles.
Medical staff announced the death of two men at the scene. The remaining two were taken to a hospital in the area, where they are being treated for gunshot wounds, according to Al-Sharif.
A 4-year-old child living in the house was also injured. The boy has been taken to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, according to the sheriff.
The bodies of the deceased were handed over to the medical examiner’s office of St. Tammany.
The investigation is still ongoing, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
Sheriff Randy Smith said: “While it is always tragic that there will be casualties at any time, I am delighted that given the rapid response time of our representatives, all parties that participated in this isolated incident have been counted.”
