Pensacola, Fl

Officials said the passenger of a small plane was killed when the plane crashed into a back alley in the Lubbock neighborhood and burst into flames.

The single-engine Cessna Centurion crashed from Belen, New Mexico, at around 4 pm. The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement as it was heading towards Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. The site of the crash was about seven miles (11 kilometers) south of the airport in a mixed residential, commercial and industrial neighborhood.

Burning debris slid from the alley across the fence into the backyard, according to Lubbock, Fire Lt. Philip Grandon. He said that the resident inside died at the scene, adding that the surrounding buildings were not damaged.
