US marshals injured in a shootout in new York, one suspect killed

Two us marshals were injured in a shootout with a suspect in the Wakefield Division in the Bronx, New York

Police said that shots were fired in Ely Street at around 5:30 a.m.

Marshals were taken to Jacobi Hospital to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Officials said they are in stable condition.

One Marshal was injured in the elbow and groin. Officials said the other was shot in the leg.

Police stated that a 9mm Glock pistol was found at the scene.

Law enforcement officials said suspect Andre Sterling was shot dead at the scene

Police said Sterling, who was wanted for shooting a state soldier in Massachusetts, was facing multiple charges including an armed attack with intent to kill and possession of a firearm. He was also wanted in Wyoming on drug charges.

A second suspect involved in the shootout was taken to Jacoby Hospital for treatment.

An investigation was conducted by the authorities in New York City.
