Police said a 16-year-old girl in Chicago was shot dead after returning to help a man who was beaten by a group of people.
Chicago police spokeswoman Sally Bowen said the girl, Lisette, died, and the man were returning home in an alley after eating at a restaurant when four men got off a 4×4 and confronted them on the south side.
The men started hitting the man around 7:10 pm, and the girl ran to a nearby friend for help,
When the girl and the friend returned, Bown said, one of the group members shot. The man who was beaten told investigators that he saw the girl fall to the ground. She had been shot in the head.
The Cook County Medical Examination Bureau said the girl was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital but was pronounced dead at 8:40 pm.
No arrests were made.
