A mother died after being shot in a home in Springfield, according to Robertson County Police Office.
Authorities said that 46-year-old Melanie Dempsey succumbed to her wounds. She was shot in the head Friday morning at a home in Springfield. Her daughter was also injured in the shooting.
The two victims were shot at around 1am in a house on Boyd Holland Road. Dempsey and her daughter were taken to a nearby hospital. Her daughter has sustained injuries that are not believed to be threatening her life.
