Firefighters battled in flames from the wreckage of a small plane that had crashed on a residential street north of Los Angeles, hitting several parked cars.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said the plane crashed close to Whitman Airport in the Baquima neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley late Thursday morning.
Initial information indicates that the small plane was approaching the runway when it crashed, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Ian Gregor.
Sky5’s aerial video showed the plane apparently colliding with several parked vehicles, setting it ablaze. The fire spread to at least one building, according to LAFD.
The footage showed that firefighters were able to put out the flames by noon.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
